Tuesday Sarah and Connie worked in the dental clinic from 2-6pm. Some of the group played with the children as they waited. The men worked in the café, and some washed dishes. Today (Wednesday) we visited the orphanage and are now at the church. Thursday we will go on a safari and take the Pallangyos with us to bless them. We will be painting at the orphanage and giving them their gifts.

Update from Kenya Team
Tuesday, 18 August 2009 08:25
Communication is limited, and even when it is available, it is not always reliable!
Here is a report from Connie:
The team spent Friday through Sunday last week attending the Fire Conference services. We attended Sunday services from 10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., and four of us stayed for the last service until 12:00.
Today (Monday) we are at the church. Some are cleaning and some are putting together dental chairs for the clinic that will operate from the church starting sometime this week. A few of us will have an opportunity to go along on the tractor that takes water out in Navaisha to sell. We are becoming aware of how we take drinking water for granted; drinking water is not readily available here. We may also start some work on the café that will operate from the church grounds. Today we will meet the deacon/financial team to present the gift of money from HCC for use on building the café. We also hope to be able to walk around Navaisha some today.
Early this morning around 4 AM, Dale heard a munching noise outside our room. He checked it and immediately woke me so that I could see the hippo! The hippo was eating grass only 30 feet from our doorway. Trevor, Dale and I are the only ones who saw it. It walked along the front of our cabins eating. They do have guards and dogs at the Country Club to scare away the dangerous wildlife if needed.
Some plans for the rest of the week include painting at the orphanage and giving them the things we brought along as well as helping in the dental clinic, playing with the boys and going on a safari. We are learning that Kenyan time is different than ours! When they say they will pick you up at 1:00 p.m., it could actually be 2:00 p.m.

Pray for Our Team in Kenya
A team from HCC departed BerksCounty on Wednesday, August 12, for an 11-day trip to Naivasha, Kenya. The team includes Dale, Catharine and Joanna Frederick, Dale, Connie and Cassondra Homm, Dave, Joy and Trevor Stutzman, and Sarah Stauffer.
While in Kenya, the group will work with Bishop Jeremiah and Beth Pallangyo and participate in the ministries their church operates there. One of the ministries Bishop Jeremiah oversees is the Child’s Hope International orphanage.
Please pray that the group would serve as a catalyst for bringing encouragement to Jeremiah and Beth in their work as well as supplying some physical labor in tasks there in Naivasha.Pray for a blessing on the team as they seek to bless the local people in Kenya.
