Recently, in July 2009, Hope celebrated together as five from the congregation shared a brief testimony of their journey and God's work in their lives. Brenda Bauer, Cassondra Homm, Rachel Kurtz, Sam Martin and Grace Rhodes-Williams were then baptized. Please continue to pray for them as they move forward in their journey after making this public statement of faith!

Join us January 4, 2009 for the Walk Thru the Old
Testament Seminar
Have you ever said or heard someone else say that the Old Testament is confusing? Although many know the general chronology of Genesis, it’s hard for most to put all of the people and events of the entire Old Testament together.
Many believe it would take years to understand. After all, the Old Testament includes:
–39 books
–929 chapters
–23,214 verses
Is it possible to memorize the key characters, places, events, and themes of the Old Testament in five action-packed hours? If it is, wouldn’t that be something that could benefit the whole church for years to come? That’s what can happen with the Walk Thru the Bible Old Testament Seminar that will take place January 4 here at Hope. It’s successful because it doesn’t bog you down with tedious notetaking and rote memorization. Instead, you’ll be caught up in a highly creative, interactive learning adventure that’s as fun as it is effective.
During the seminar, which runs from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., you will meet Bible characters in an up-close and personal way. It’ll be as easy as taking a walk. Thousands of years of history and scores of famous names and places will be your companions, and a wealth of new insights and understanding will be your destination. In just a few hours, you will memorize more than you’ve ever dreamed possible by using hand motions, catch phrases, and group review. By the end of the
day, you’ll be able to:
–Trace major geographical movements on a giant map
–Learn to Walk Thru 77 major events in less than three minutes.
–Understand the themes and purpose of the Old Testament.
This seminar, presented by Walk Thru the Bible representative Peter Hook, meets a need for clarity and connection to God’s Word that most of us recognize we have. Perhaps the best testimony to the long-term impact of this day-long seminar is that historically 75 percent or more of those who attend make a commitment to read their Bibles and pray every day.
This seminar is the kick-off for a whole year of walking through the Bible together as a congregation. You will be provided with a reading schedule and are encouraged to participate, whether or not you can attend the kick-off event. Sermons each week throughout the year will be drawn from that week’s readings.
